Stunning Whole-Home Remodel in the Highlands

Our clients in the Highlands loved where they lived, but were increasingly frustrated with the interior of their home. The kitchen was dated, and the flow throughout the lower floor was choppy and cramped and didn’t suit their lifestyle. Upstairs, the primary bedroom suite wasn’t the retreat they’d like it to be, and the jack-and-jill bath shared by two bedrooms no longer suited the needs of overnight guests.

To provide them with the home they desired, we renovated nearly every inch of the first and second floors. The result is an elegantly reimagined home that our clients adore.

Opening Up the First Floor

The old U-shaped kitchen was cramped, outdated, and flowed directly onto the garage. Opening up the kitchen was the spark for a total revamp of the entire first floor. The old dining room space was converted into a roomy mudroom with storage that now includes a functional laundry area. The space also creates a buffer zone between the garage and the living spaces.

The new kitchen is bright and airy, with an expansive island housing a deep sink, counter space, generous storage, and casual seating perfect for entertaining. The island anchors a new spacious room, with classic white cabinetry throughout, double wall ovens, and a new smooth-top electric cooktop for easy cleanup.

The kitchen flows beautifully into the new dining area and beyond to the family room, reflecting the way our clients live in their home and their entertaining style. To make this new space, we eliminated a narrow hallway with cramped closets and an outdated bathroom.

Creating Private Retreats Upstairs

On the second level, the primary suite did not suit our clients’ needs or desires. A full remodel of the en-suite bathroom gave them a spacious, stylish spa-like retreat with a large glass-doored shower, two separate vanities, and an enclosed water closet.

For additional comfort and convenience, we created a large walk-in closet by borrowing a bit of space from another bedroom. Equipped with ample storage and hanging space, their closet helps keep chaos at bay by providing a place for everything, from suits and shoes, to luggage and more.

Overnight guests also have newly updated and private living areas. Previously, the two guest bedrooms shared a jack-and-jill bathroom. While that’s a popular style for families with children, it’s less than ideal for adults (even grown siblings) trying to share the space.

We created distinct full bathrooms, accessible only through the bedrooms, providing a higher level of comfort and privacy for visiting family and friends. In addition to the en-suite baths, these bedrooms are well-appointed with spacious closets, and plenty of electrical outlets on both sides of the beds making it ideal for powering reading lamps, as well as charging phones and tablets.

And while our clients love their remodeled home, they also enjoyed the remodeling process.

“So many people remodeling can’t wait for the builder to get out of their homes or they are no longer on friendly terms. It was the opposite with Bailey Remodeling & Construction, LLC.,” they said. “We were in no hurry for them to be done and we would use them again if we did another remodeling project in the future; which is a reflection that from the planning stage all the way down to the punch list, everybody truly wanted our project to go smoothly and wanted us to be happy with our ‘new’ home.”
